The Lagos State Government has extended its work-from-home policy for its workers for the next three months.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu approved the extension in a circular signed by the state Head of Service, Bode Agoro, on September 4.

In February, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos, directed that the workers would work remotely on some days. He announced that workers on grade levels 01 to 14 should work from home for two days a week, while those on grade levels 15 to 17 should work from home for one day.

However, in a statement on Wednesday, September 4, Bode Agoro, the Lagos state head of service, said the government had extended the “flexible work initiative” for another three months to assuage the effects of the removal of the petrol subsidy.

“Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has magnanimously approved the extension of the flexible work-from-home initiative for an additional three (3) months with effect from September 4th to 3rd of December 2024.

“Accordingly, all accounting officers are enjoined to note the content of this circular for compliance and give it the deserved service-wide publicity,"  the statement reads.

The decision aimed to reduce the effects of the removal of fuel subsidy on the workers.

Sanwo-Olu stated in the circular that the policy positively impacted workers’ productivity in the various ministries, departments, and agencies of the state government.

It is reported that the extension took effect on September 4.
