The Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has officially announced that the Port Harcourt Refinery in Rivers State has commenced crude oil processing.
According to Femi Soneye, the company's chief corporate communications officer, the refinery will operate at 60% capacity and process 60,000 barrels per day (bpd).
Soneye celebrated the achievement as a significant milestone for Nigeria, marking the beginning of a new era of energy independence and potential economic growth for the country.
He extended congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) Mele Kyari for their commitment to the project, which is expected to transform Nigeria’s energy landscape.
Additionally, Soneye confirmed that the NNPCL is actively working to bring the Warri Refinery back online as well, further boosting the nation's refining capacity.

Meanwhile, TheRadar earlier reported that Dangote Group discussed its commitment to high-quality and affordable Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).
The group warned that cheaper imported petrol posed risks to consumers and vehicles.
