1. Tinubu returns to Abuja after European trip: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu returned to Abuja last night following a two-week visit to Europe. His aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 9:50 pm.

President Tinubu was welcomed by top government officials, including SGF George Akume, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, NSA Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning Atiku Bagudu, and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.

2. Ijora bridge to be shut for repairs from April 27: The Federal Government will fully close the Ijora Bridge in Lagos starting April 27 for urgent repair works.

The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, announced the closure during an inspection, stating that the bridge requires significant maintenance, including the replacement of damaged bearings beneath its deck.

3. EFCC arrests two in N1.3 trillion crypto scam probe: The EFCC has arrested two individuals in connection with a N1.3 trillion fraud linked to Crypto Bridge Exchange (CBEX).

While four Nigerians, two of them siblings, are reportedly involved, their identities remain undisclosed. 

A British national has also been linked to the case, though his role is still under investigation.

4. FG begins audit to eliminate ghost workers: The Federal Government has launched a nationwide personnel audit to identify and remove ghost workers from its payroll.

The audit, initiated by the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, follows concerns about civil servants who have relocated abroad but still receive salaries.

A circular issued by the Director of Administration, Dauda Abdulhamid, instructed all relevant departments to commence a comprehensive nominal roll update and personnel verification.

5. Argentina halts football matches to mourn Pope Francis: Argentina’s football federation has postponed all matches scheduled for Monday in honour of Pope Francis, a lifelong football enthusiast and supporter of San Lorenzo.

“A minute of silence will be observed at all fixtures this week,” the Argentine Football Association said, adding that the nation’s football community is in mourning.
