1. Tinubu’s reelection: ACF, others tackle Ganduje over no-vacancy comment: Pro-North social-political organisation, Arewa Consultative Forum, and some prominent voices from the northern region of the country have said the region cannot be forced to re-elect President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

The  ACF and other northern leaders declared that no individual could claim to be the mouthpiece of the North and, as such, it was wrong for the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Abdullahi Ganduje, to ask the North to wait till 2031 before vying for the Presidency

2. Tariff hike: NLC asks members to boycott MTN, Airtel, Glo services: The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has asked telecommunication companies to reverse the implementation of tariff hike until a committee set up by the Federal Government completes its work.

The Congress said that beginning from Thursday, February 13, Nigerian workers and other willing citizens should boycott the services of MTN, AIRTEL, and GLO daily between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM until the end of February 2025.

3. I will make Edo envy of other states, says Okpebholo: The Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has said, with its robust collaboration with the Federal Government, the state is on course to become the envy of other states.

The governor made this declaration when he received the Accountant-General of the Federation, Oluwatoyin Madein, who was on a courtesy visit to the Government House in Benin City.

4. 14m Nigerians addicted to drug abuse – NDLEA: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) says no fewer than 14 million Nigerians are estimated to have been involved and addicted to the consumption of harmful drugs.

The Deputy Commander, Ondo State Command, NDLEA, Mrs Yetunde Joyifous, disclosed a drug abuse awareness programme, organised by Oijefon Youth for secondary schools in Ile Oluji/Oke-Igbo Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday, February 12.

5. Liberian president suspends over 450 officials for failing to declare assets: Liberian President Joseph Boakai, who has pledged to fight endemic corruption, suspended Wednesday more than 450 government-appointed officials for failing to declare their assets.

The Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) identified 457 officials, including the minister overseeing the budget as well as ambassadors, as having not declared what they own before a November deadline, as required by the country’s code of conduct for state officials.
