1. FG to establish national youth development bank: On Tuesday, November 19, the Federal Government revealed a plan to establish a National Youth Development Bank and a Youth Data Bank.
President Bola Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, disclosed this at a Stakeholders Roundtable on Northern Youth Development organised by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Abuja.
2. Tinubu pledges to boost Northern development for national prosperity: President Bola Tinubu has declared that the development of Northern Nigeria remained fundamental to the nation’s prosperity.
Speaking during a Stakeholders Roundtable on Northern Youth Development organised by the Sir. Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in Abuja, President Tinubu, represented by his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima, invoked the legacy of the late Sardauna of Sokoto and former Premier of Northern Nigeria.
3. Marwa urges Tinubu to declare a state of emergency on drug abuse: The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Brig.-Gen Chairman. Buba Marwa (retd) has urged the President Bola Tinubu-led government to declare a state of emergency on drug abuse.
Marwa made the call while charging Nigerian elites to key into the whole-of-society strategy by the NDLEA to curb the scourge of substance abuse and illicit drug trafficking in the country.
4. Nigerians rank seventh among international students in U.S.: Nigerian students’ enrollment at United States (U.S.) colleges and universities rose to 20,029 in 2023/2024, a 2024 Open Doors Report on International Education Exchange has indicated.
The report released on November 19 by the U.S. Embassy in Abuja revealed that U.S. colleges and universities hosted a record-breaking 1,126,690 international students this year.
5. Sanwo-Olu announces $100M film village in Lagos: The Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has said the state government is setting up a $100 million Film Village to provide opportunities for people in the creative industry to polish their talents and make their works globally known.
He stated this on Tuesday, November 19, while delivering the 36th convocation lecture of Yaba College of Technology, YABATECH. The lecture was titled “Developing export alternatives for Nigeria’s economic recovery.”
