The National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, has reiterated the Federal Government's commitment to addressing the growing insecurity in Benue State and other parts of the country.

Ribadu acknowledged the efforts of Governor Hyacinth Alia in confronting the crisis but cautioned against individuals exploiting the situation for personal gain.

Ribadu made the remarks on Tuesday during a briefing with journalists at the Government House in Makurdi. He was in the state to assess the escalating insecurity, which has led to the tragic loss of over 120 lives in recent weeks.

“We are fully committed to supporting the Governor in tackling insecurity and will continue to stand with him to defeat this menace,” Ribadu stated, emphasising the Federal Government's unwavering support for state efforts to address the crisis.

He also conveyed the President’s firm resolve to bring an end to insecurity in the country, adding, “The President has directed me to reaffirm his determination to eliminate this threat.”

Ribadu’s comments come amid growing concerns over security challenges not only in Benue but also in other states within the North Central region, which have been grappling with rising violence.

The NSA called for cooperation from all stakeholders, including government officials, local leaders, and citizens, to ensure lasting peace and stability in the affected areas.

Ribadu was warmly received at the Government House in Makurdi by Governor Hyacinth Alia, members of the National Assembly, and other key government officials.
