  • The controversy unfolded on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) after Mr Azeez called out Tolani, leading to a heated exchange and the sharing of incriminating screenshots
  • Netizens widely criticised both Tolani and Mr. Azeez for their actions, sparking a broader debate about infidelity

Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) has been abuzz following a heated exchange between two users, Tolani not Baj and Mr Azeez.

The drama began when Tolani allegedly accepted money from Mr Azeez for a date but failed to show up, leaving the arrangement unsuccessful.

On Saturday, January 11, Abu Azeez @AbuAzeezAbolaji quoted Tolani's 2024 posts @missionarylani stating, “Make I never talk.”

In response to Mr Azeez’s comment, Tolani quickly replied, “Until I tag your wife and tell her to ask you to stop harassing me?”

This reply escalated the situation, leading to the release of screenshots that revealed conversations between Tolani and the married man who had paid her to visit him for alleged illicit activities.

In a follow-up post, Tolani shared: "Before I sleep, this man has been tripping in my DM since September last month, found out he was married slide 2 is him affirming he was married, I played along got money from him, he kept disturbing me, told him to send his account number back he said he's bigger than that okay?

Tolani revealed that she initially didn't know Mr Azeez was married. After receiving the 12k, she decided not to go through with the meeting despite his persistence. She offered to refund the money, but he claimed he was more than just N12,000.

She posted: "After he sent it, I left him and went about my day. I told him the next day I hadn’t seen the money yet so he’ll leave me alone (he was trying to video call me). I insisted and when I saw he was getting aggressive, I told him I didn’t see it and he should send his account number so he can leave me alone.

“He said he didn’t want to take it and started talking about plans he had for me. He still kept pestering and I told him to allow me to refund him again. He didn’t want to."

" All these happened late December. I found out he was married on the 4th of January. That was when I stopped begging. I got irritated after I found out and even told him I knew he was married. He could care less and continued harassing me."

The issue sparked a heated debate among netizens, with opinions divided. Some felt Tolani wasn't entirely at fault since she did not force him to send the money. Others argued that the focus should be on Mr Azeez, who attempted to cheat on his wife, rather than Tolani, who accepted the money.

Meanwhile, some faulted both and felt the drama wasn’t worth the internet backlash.

@stellarifeoluwa posted: “Can't believe everyone's taking sides on this '12k' drama! To me, it's simple: the guy who broke his vows is a cheat, and the lady who took the money and ghosted is a thief. They're both in the wrong; no difference between them!”

@PrinceTonyz posted: “So it’s just 12k that’s causing this drama, both the girl that ate the money and the married man, they’re just foolish, how do they feel bringing this on the internet on top 12k.”

@IamExcellency commented: “Both are at fault.

Bigger fault? The lady for reducing her worth to such level.

We know some men no really care about worth like that.”

@societyhatesjay posted: “you go bill your fellow student 200k for wig but you dey bill married man 12k to come over unilag girls, man”

@khaleeedSZN posted: “Feminist dey collect 12k from man for tf keh 😂 “I played along” after you don buy semo with the money”

@IamEkene_ posted: “A married man who will drag you online for 12k is not someone to tell "nothing will happen".  Be careful in your deeds and dealings.”

@tripplsett posted: “she said 12k is nothing, 5minutes later receipts of her agreeing to spend 7days in a mans house for 35k surfaced. so 5k per day ? 😭 heew! i no understand again

after threatening to cast her on twitter for not showing up, she finally confessed she was poor and needed the money.”

@Herbeayty22 posted: “The married man is clearly a clout chaser. It’s funny how the lady just found out he’s married this January. I blame the lady for sending her account number in the first place. If a stranger approaches you online and you’re not interested, it’s best to block them immediately.”
