Afrobeats singer Yemi Alade has called out two popular media organisations, Cool FM and Clout Africa, for blacklisting her songs.
The singer alleged that the media organisations had consistently refused to play her songs since 2023 despite her attempts to apologise for not attending their event.
In a series of X (formerly Twitter), on Thursday, November 21, the Johnny crooner narrated what transpired and how the media organisation treated the matter.
“My God big pass your whole station @cloutafrica @CoolFMNigeria , keep on forming gatekeepers and taking my songs down. Na God be my label and management. we go meet for front. Fake people wey dey feel like small gods.
“My God will fight for me, and I will hold my peace. Since December 2023. I personally reached out in January. Still, you are refusing to play my music and give my team a hard time. You are not gatekeepers and you are not God, Mr Serge Noujaim and Mr Joseph Adamu. My God will frustrate you all. @coolfmlagos @cloutafrica,” she lamented in her tweets.
According to Yemi Alade, the alleged beef between her and the media organizations has lingered since 2023 to 2024 over an event she was invited to but didn't attend. She also noted that she had apologised to them.
“My team and I have traveled round the world, met with presidents and many important people in the world. If there is a problem we resolve but @CoolFMNigeria and @cloutafrica dey form say dem no dey forgive for free show?
“Take down my whole catalog from your stations @CoolFMNigeria and @cloutafrica. God go still give me food. You're beefing an artist for 1 full year, over your event. I didn't go, too. I apologized and even called your oga him dey form oga no even reply to my text.” She added.
Album Review: ‘Rebel Queen’ sustains Yemi Alade's status as Mama Africa but bears inconsistencies
Coming a decade after debuting King of Queens in 2015, Yemi Alade’s sixth studio album, Rebel Queen, has solidified her nickname as ‘Mama Africa,’ highlighting her evolution in the Nigerian music scene.
The title indeed poses food for thought. Why does she consider herself a rebel? Yemi Alade, while speaking with KBC Digital, revealed that she is an African rebel queen walking the path less travelled in the diverse world of monotony.
She has refused to succumb to it because she is different and unique. TheRadar reviewed that Rebel Queen solidifies Yemi Alade as a lover of African heritage but suffers from inconsistencies.
