Toyosi Etim-Effiong, the wife of Nigerian actor Daniel Etim Effiong, has responded to critics questioning her stance on her husband's romantic roles in movies, including a near-kiss scene for the promotion of Bolaji Ogunmola’s recent movie, Summer Rain.
In a recent talk session on ‘Transparent Talk Show’ Toyosi dismissed speculation about her reaction to Daniel's on-screen performances, emphasising that their marriage is built on trust and understanding.
Addressing the notion that she is either insecure or obsessed with Daniel, Toyosi debunked assumptions that she deliberately keeps certain women away from her husband, saying their relationship is founded on trust.
She confessed that she didn't see the noise and speculations, until she got a notification from Google Drive, and reached out to Bolaji Ogunmola over the PR of the movie.
She revealed that was the point she saw the video, and it was as though she was seeing a movie, and it didn't get to her.
“Watching it was like I was seeing a movie, I wasn't watching my husband, and that is what these people don't get. When you are on screen, I am not there to see Daniel, I am there to have fun. I don't watch all your films,” she said.
In the session, the talent agent also denied claims that she constantly monitors Daniel's online activities or is excessively "husband-centred.”
Toyosi stated,
"There is this assumption that I'm obsessed, sitting down and watching everything you do. No. So with Bolaji, it was business, I just asked how much she'll pay me to promote for her.
“Outside is outside, You are my God-ordained husband; any kiss you want to kiss, it doesn't change the fact that you are my husband."
Social media users have often speculated about Toyosi's online presence, accusing her of being too focused on her husband. However, her remarks cleared the air that these perceptions are far from the truth, emphasising that Daniel's career does not affect their relationship.
