- Living in Bondage (1992)
Starring popular actors Kenneth Okonkwo, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Bob Manuel Udokwu and Francis Agu, Living in Bondage directed by Chris Obi, revolves around the life of a man, who is willing to do anything it takes to elude poverty. This drives him into money rituals and he is forced to sacrifice his wife. He is cursed with a haunted life until he confesses. This movie gave us a ‘90s show with its moral lessons and representation of real life issues.
- Ti Oluwa Ni Ile (1993)
The popular Yoruba Nollywood film Ti Oluwa Ni Ile, released in the early 1990s, is a didactic story of a rich man from Lagos. He decided to go to a village to buy land to build a petrol station. In the process, he discovers an unusual secret about the land. The land in question belonged to a deity, and despite warnings from community members, he bought it and faced dire consequences. The movie starred Dele Odule, Yemi Shodimu, and Oyin Adejobi, among others.
- Glamour Girls (1994)
As the title implies, the movie, Glamour Girls, produced and written by Kenneth Nnabue, captured the lives of young women who desired the ‘soft life’ and glamorous lifestyle. They take the part of promiscuity and discard the dangers involved. It is a didactic film worth watching.
- Rattlesnake (1995)
Rattlesnake is a 1995 action movie written and directed by Amaka Igwe. It was her directorial foray into making a feature-length film. Starring Nkem Owoh, Francis Duru, Ernest Obi and Okechukwu Igwe, the film tells the story of Ahanna Okolo, who loses his father under suspicious circumstances as a child. He later ventures into a life of crime.
- Diamond Ring (1998)
Featuring legends like Richard Mofe Damijo, Liz Benson, Bimbo Akintola and Sola Sobowale, the classic Nollywood film, ‘Diamond Ring’ tells the story of a spoiled rich kid who joins a gang of thieves. They plotted and robbed a mortuary, looting the diamond ring of a buried woman. The woman began to haunt them. This has to be the best Horror or a classic Halloween movie. The jump scare felt so real. Tade Ogidan takes production credit for the unforgettable film.
