Nigerian social media influencer Priscilla Ojo has found herself embroiled in a controversy over a comment from an X(formerly Twitter) account allegedly impersonating her.
Priscilla Ojo, who recently tied the knot with Juma Jux, was faced with backlash over the post.
The controversy erupted on social media following a post by @hypetribeng, announcing Tanzanian artiste Juma Jux's win at the 17th edition of the Headies Awards as the East African Artiste of the Year.
Ganering reactions, a social media user @oku_yungx responded with a seemingly innocuous comment, stating, “LMAO the game is the game.”
However, things took a turn when an account @priscilla_ojo responded to the post, sarcastically insinuating that Juma Jux’s win is connected to their marriage. The comment, made in a lighthearted tone, read,
"Yes oo, he got married for Nigerians recognition and Headies award 😂😂 the game is the game my brother. Shout-out to my husband such a smart, calculative and hardworking man, I’m so lucky 🥳❤️ big love to the Jp fans for voting. We love you🫶🏽❤️Ikm.”
The comment quickly sparked outrage, with some users calling on Priscilla Ojo to take down the post, warning that Nigerians would criticise her for it. @h-abibah wrote,
“You better don’t start what you can’t finish my love, twitter people no get joy o.”
However, the account refused to back down, stating that she had done nothing wrong and that her comment was made in a lighthearted tone. Responding, she stated
“Abibah, I’m clearly praising my husband and supporting the statement “the game is the game” nothing to start and finish here.”
The situation has since escalated, with many netizens expressing their opinions on the matter and criticising Priscilla Ojo.
Toyin Abraham claims Priscilla doesn’t have an X account
Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has since come out to debunk the news stating that Priscilla Ojo is not on X.
The self acclaimed ‘oversabi aunty’ commented on the post stating, “This is a fake handle, my baby is not on Twitter Pls.”
Despite the backlash, some users are commending Abraham for addressing the issue head-on, while some believed that Priscilla is truly behind the handle.
