Popular Nigerian businessman and socialite Emeka Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, has broken silence following his release from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

E-Money was reportedly arrested on the evening of Monday, April 28, 2025, at his residence in Lagos by a team of EFCC officers.

The arrest was linked to allegations of currency abuse, including defacing the Nigerian naira and foreign currencies. Authorities are said to be probing the socialite for allegedly spraying U.S. dollars at a public function, a practice prohibited under Nigeria's Foreign Exchange Act.

Additionally, activist VeryDarkMan claimed in a viral video that E-Money also stepped on naira notes while spraying British pounds on singer Flavour during Obi Cubana's 50th birthday celebration, while businessman Okoya's children are still working freely.

In a video posted in E-Money's official Instagram account on April 29, 2025, he confirmed that he has regained his freedom and reassured his supporters, stating that there is no need to be tense as everything is in accord.

The clip was accompanied by the song "Thank You for Saving Me" by Emmanuel Lazarius, which has gotten  many of his fans online talking.

His caption read, "No tension, Everywhere good, I see all your love and support. God bless you all. #itistoolatetofailamen.”
