British model Eva Apio has addressed rumours about her alleged relationship with Nigerian singer Asake. 

The speculation began on Friday, May 16, after an X user @DavoAntho11623 shared a photo of the pair in Paris, dressed in matching outfits. 

The accompanying caption read, “Asake and his girlfriend, Eva Apio.” This quickly went viral and garnered mixed reactions from social media users, as many expressed support for the alleged couple.

In response to the growing buzz, Apio took to X on Sunday, May 18, to set the record straight.  

“I was never his girlfriend,” she wrote, putting an end to the rumours.  

Her statement followed a series of public appearances with Asake, including their sighting at Paris Fashion Week, which added fuel to the speculation. 

The viral post has continued to divide opinions online. While some speculate that Asake and Eva Apio may have a romantic relationship, others criticised Nigerians for buying into the narrative, pointing to joint photoshoots as mere publicity stunts.
