In an interview on Biola Adebayo’s Talk To B show, Nollywood actor Tito Harrison openly discussed a deeply traumatic period in his life marked by illness and financial despair.

The veteran Yoruba actor opened up about how liver disease and a chronic ulcer left him bedridden, and stripped him of everything he owned, including his house and cars.

"I sold my house, car, and everything I had to pay hospital bills. After moving to a rented house, I couldn’t afford the rent anymore, so we had to stay at my mother-in-law’s place,” Harrison explained

Throughout this difficult journey, his wife, Tayelolu’s unwavering support shone as a beacon of hope. Harrison tearfully praised her, stating,

The luck I had was my wife. When I was battling with liver disease and a chronic ulcer, my wife stood by me when everybody left me. It is good to have a good wife. If I come to this world again, it is my wife I will marry.”

He recounted the fear and despair that permeated his condition. He said,

"I survived and I trekked from Victoria Island to Iyana Ipaja. In my head, I'd think that I'll faint, but then go ahead to buy a sachet of water and pour it on my head. Until God said I have come to test you the way God tested Job."

Harrison revealed that his ordeal grew so severe that he fell into a coma for three days, during which time his children were encouraged by their mother that he would recover.

He also addressed the judgment he faced in the industry, recalling how some even mocked his situation.

“Some people granted an interview, saying, ‘It is finished for Tito Harrison, he’s now living with his mother-in-law.I have the testimony to that. I didn’t throw away the magazine. Even if it had been so, if you can’t rally around me, you don’t vilify me or kill my reputation,” he stated.

Tito Harrison speaks about his career in the entertainment industry

Before his health challenges, Harrison shared insights into his career, noting that he started as a scriptwriter before transitioning to acting and directing. He expressed his perseverance, emphasising, “If you are alive, the journey continues.”

After years of challenges and shifting from stage plays to private television, he recounted meeting Charly Boy and contributing to the television industry with the show ‘Candid Camera’, which later stopped due to political constraints.

Harrison's commitment to his craft continued despite the setbacks, as he delved into the Yoruba acting industry at the advice of his friend Saheed Balogun

He stated that his journey led him to important connections, including Antar Laniyan and Oga Bello, which enriched his experience in the industry, alongside Yinka Quadri.

However, joining the Odun Ifa Caucus made him develop hatred because they wanted him to learn something he already knew.

“I am not a protégé of Odun Ifa, rather I am  a friend, and being delimited to learn work from them in which I had the  knowledge, made me develop hatred.”

He also spoke about the financial challenges he faced after his sickness, stating,

People know Tito Harrison is back but the pathetic side is people don’t want to pay; there was a particular movie set I had to beg the producer to pay me 30k to take home.”

His emotional revelation during the interview has garnered widespread attention and reaction from netizens.
