Manchester United’s hunt for a prolific striker is heating up, with head coach Ruben Amorim reportedly setting his sights on Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen as the club looks to bolster its attacking options ahead of the next season.

With the Red Devils struggling for consistency in front of goal, the Portuguese tactician is eager to add more talent to his squad, and Osimhen has emerged as the primary target.

Reports suggest that Manchester United’s hierarchy has already begun laying the groundwork for negotiations, identifying the Nigerian international as a proven goalscorer capable of transforming the club’s fortunes.

Osimhen, who has spent the season on loan at Galatasaray, has impressed with his clinical finishing in the Turkish Super Lig, making him one of Europe’s most sought strikers.

The 26-year-old striker’s future at Napoli appears to be all but over, with sources revealing that the Serie A giants are keen to offload him. Last summer, Osimhen attempted to force a permanent move away from Naples, a decision that soured his relationship with the club.

Now, with his release clause set to drop to £63 million, Napoli is more than willing to part ways with their once-prized asset.

Despite his availability, securing Osimhen’s signature won’t be an easy feat for Manchester United. The club’s revised wage structure could pose a challenge, as the Nigerian striker is expected to demand a lucrative pay package.

Additionally, Osimhen is reportedly prioritising Champions League football, something that could put Juventus in pole position should United fail to secure a top-four finish.

Manchester United’s attacking frontline has faced scrutiny throughout the season. Although Joshua Zirkzee arrived for £36.5 million from Bologna, and Rasmus Højlund was brought in for a hefty fee, neither has fully convinced as the club’s long-term solution upfront.

The Red Devils are expected to reassess their attacking options at the end of the campaign, with a potential clear-out on the cards.

More importantly, United’s summer transfer activity will be heavily influenced by their league finish, as failing to qualify for Europe’s elite competition could diminish their pulling power. However, Amorim remains eager to reshape his squad and believes Osimhen could be the key to reigniting their Premier League resurgence in the coming years.

Rashford: Why Ruben Amorim let Manchester United star leave emerges

Previously, TheRadar reported that Manchester United’s decision to let Marcus Rashford leave on loan to Aston Villa sparked widespread debate, but manager Ruben Amorim later provided clarity on the situation.

The Portuguese coach admitted that Rashford struggled to adapt to his tactical demands, leading to the decision to part ways, at least temporarily.
